Jim and Jeff, Memorial Day 2025

Memorial Day 2025 was a beautiful day.  Members of the community gathered for a picnic and socializing after the Chequamegon Veterans paid tribute to those who served.

Our 5783 Projects

Our beautiful stand of evergreens, all planted at the same time in the early days of the cemetery has reached the end of its life.  In ones, two and threes, some are dying each year.  We've cut down the ones that have died and this year planed seven new trees.  As the old trees continue to die, will will removed them and plant new ones.

This pictures shows a white pickup truck backing up through the cemetery archway and carrying one of our board members who is sitting on our memorial bench. It is a beautiful day and the grass is green and the sky is clear and blue.

Community members gathered over the summer to install a comfortable green bench
donated by the Siegler family in loving memory of David's mother, Paula Betty Block Siegler Sleeth.

Spring '22 brought us together to break a sweat and start a new garden bed with
a large pile of soil, brownstone block border and donations of perennial flowers from friends' gardens.

The mission of the B'nai Israel Cemetery Association is to preserve and honor the memory of the Jews who came here before us, to provide for the physical and aesthetic maintenance of the cemetery grounds, and to create a sustainable financial foundation for the Cemetery, while providing a welcoming and peaceful resting place near the shore of Lake Superior for the Jewish community, friends, and families.
